Artists of Resilience: A Generation of Art and Activism
Join the Japanese American Museum of Oregon on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 6:00 – 7:00pm for a virtual conversation with three of the artists whose work is featured in the exhibition Resilience: A Sansei Sense of Legacy—Kristine Aono, Reiko Fujii, and Jerry Takigawa (who co-curated the exhibition with Gail Enns). Lucy Capehart, Director of Collections and Exhibitions, and Chisao Hata, Creative Director of JAMO’s Living Arts Program, will lead this conversation about the origins of the exhibit, the artists’ work, and their personal journey as Sansei/3rd generation Japanese American artist/activists in America.
The exhibition, which also features work by Lydia Nakashima Degarrod, Wendy Maruyama, Tom Nakashima, Roger Shimomura, and Na Omi Judy Shintani, will continue at the Japanese American Museum of Oregon through December 23, 2022 at 411 NW Flanders St., Portland, OR 97209.
